Term 3 in the City

Posted

"Why do you go away? So that you can come back. So that you can see the place you came from with new eyes and extra colours. And the people there see you differently, too. Coming back to where you started is not the same as never leaving." -Terry Pratchett, A Hat Full of Sky.

There are always parts of the year that drag, taking an eternity to pass. And then there’s months that appear to whisk by in a snap. Since coming back from Bali, it’s been flat out busy with a steady push of work and tasks and work and tasks.

Slowly the days are getting longer and spring blooms are making their appearances. The mornings are less sad and the city is waking up. We celebrated our second wedding anniversary, my team won staff Olympics at work, we visited the Ukrainian club for Independence Day, and I made it through science week (complete with a liquid nitrogen show, reptile encounter, trip too the zoo and more)!

I have three more weeks of term 3, then a glorious 2 week break. During term 3 holidays, Michael and I will head to Gold Coast for a few days and enjoy the east coast sunshine. I have also been extended at my school for another year. It’s nice knowing that I have a full time position secured with the same kids and the same staff which makes it all a bit easier.

The homesickness comes and goes depending on the day. We find pockets of joy and sadness, enjoying the moment and simultaneously craving home.

How lucky we are to have so many choices. What a life we are blessed with. ❤️

With love,

Alex & Michael
